Detonation of World War II Bomb

Vibrock were given the unusual task of conducting vibration monitoring during the controlled detonation of an unexploded bomb. The 227kg World War II bomb was unearthed in a field at Balkholme, near Goole, North Yorkshire. The bomb is believed to be the result of a collision between two Halifax bombers over 60 years ago.

In the Press

Vibrock V901 seismographs were utilised to conduct the vibration monitoring at a nearby gas main and residential property some 20 metres away. The bomb was safely detonated by 33 Engineer Regiment personnel with no reported damage to either of the sensitive receptors.
