Planning permission was recently granted by Cumbria County Council for an eastern extension to Cardewmires Quarry near Carlisle. Vibrock were commissioned by Stephenson Halliday, on behalf of the quarry operator, Thomas Armstrong Group, to undertake noise and dust impact assessments as part of the planning application.
The permitted development will allow the continuation of extraction of material up until December 2025. Vibrock is currently undertaking further assessments for a proposed larger 16ha extension to the south of the quarry which is expected to yield a further 1.7 million tonnes of sand and gravel.
